Davido and Wande Coal Clash on X Over Unreleased “Come My Way” Collaboration
A long-running disagreement over an unreleased version of Wande Coal’s “Come My Way” featuring Davido has erupted publicly on X, with the two Afrobeats stars exchanging sharp words after Davido explained why the collaboration was never released.

A long-running disagreement between Nigerian music stars Wande Coal and Davido has spilled into the public space after the two artists exchanged heated remarks on X over their unreleased collaboration on “Come My Way.”
The dispute resurfaced after Davido discussed the shelved collaboration during a recent interview, explaining his version of why his contribution to the 2021 Wande Coal song never officially came out.
Wande Coal subsequently challenged that account on X, arguing that the song already had a release plan before the disagreement over Davido's contribution.
The exchange quickly attracted attention from Afrobeats fans, turning what had largely remained a behind-the-scenes music industry story into a public social-media dispute.
How the Disagreement Started
“Come My Way” was released by Wande Coal as a solo single in October 2021 and later became associated with an unreleased version featuring Davido.
According to Davido's account in the recent interview, Wande Coal approached him to contribute to the song before it was released. Davido said he recorded a verse that he considered strong but disagreed with the proposed plan to release the original song first and subsequently put out his contribution as a remix.
Davido said he did not record the verse with the understanding that it would be used only for a remix.
The collaboration therefore never received the official release many fans had anticipated.
Wande Coal Challenges Davido's Version
Wande Coal appeared to take issue with Davido's explanation.
In a post on X, the singer argued that the song already had a release plan and date before Davido became involved in discussions about how his version should be released.
His response suggested that Davido was attempting to influence the release strategy of a song that belonged to Wande Coal.
Wande also pointed out that “Come My Way” performed well without Davido's contribution, pushing back against any suggestion that the unreleased collaboration was essential to the song's success.
Davido Responds
Davido responded to Wande Coal's post with a short but provocative message, writing:
“No vex Mr Little 🍆.”
Wande Coal fired back shortly afterwards, replying:
“No vex too Mr. Toto beggar 😂.”
The exchange immediately changed the tone of the conversation from a disagreement over music-release plans into a personal social-media confrontation.
Neither artist has indicated that the exchange represents a broader professional dispute beyond the issue surrounding the unreleased collaboration.
Fans Quickly Take Sides
The confrontation generated thousands of reactions, likes and quote posts on X, with fans of both artists weighing in.
Some users defended Davido, arguing that his interview did not appear to attack Wande Coal and that he simply explained why he did not agree with the proposed remix arrangement.
Others sided with Wande Coal, arguing that Davido should not have been involved in deciding how a song already planned for release should be handled.
There were also users who felt the argument had gone beyond the original issue and had become unnecessarily personal.
That division has helped push the story further across Nigerian social media.
The Song Was Already Successful
One of the points at the centre of Wande Coal's response is that “Come My Way” did not depend on Davido's verse to become successful.
The original song was released in October 2021 and later became part of Wande Coal's Legend or No Legend era. Available music listings confirm the song's 2021 release.
The existence of the unreleased Davido version nevertheless kept fans interested for years, with snippets of the collaboration circulating online and prompting questions about why the two artists never officially released it.
Why Fans Are Talking About It Again
The renewed argument is particularly interesting because the disagreement is not about a newly recorded song.
It concerns a collaboration that has remained unreleased for several years.
For fans who had previously heard snippets of Davido's contribution, the exchange has revived interest in what could have been a major Afrobeats collaboration.
Some fans are now asking whether the two singers could eventually put their differences aside and release the track, while others believe the public disagreement makes that possibility less likely.
For now, there has been no announcement that the collaboration will be officially released.
What X Users Are Saying
The reaction on X has been divided.
Some users have criticised Wande Coal for responding publicly, arguing that Davido's explanation was not necessarily disrespectful.
Others believe Wande was justified in defending his version of events, particularly because he maintains that the song already had a release plan.
There are also users who have simply treated the exchange as entertainment, joking about the insults traded between two respected figures in Nigerian music.
The important point is that these are individual reactions rather than an established consensus among Nigerian music fans. The available discussion clearly shows that the artists' supporters are divided.
A Dispute That Could Have Stayed Behind the Scenes
Music collaborations frequently involve disagreements over release dates, ownership, credits, remixes and how different artists' contributions should be presented.
In this case, what appears to have started as a disagreement over the release format of a song has resurfaced years later through a public exchange between two established Afrobeats artists.
Whether the dispute ends with another round of social-media posts or eventually results in the long-awaited collaboration being released remains unclear.
For now, “Come My Way” has once again become a talking point — not because of a new musical release, but because of the unresolved story behind the version featuring Davido.
