Peter Obi Pledges to Serve Only One Term if Elected President in 2027

Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has reiterated his promise to serve only one four-year term if elected president in the 2027 general election.

Speaking during a televised interview, Obi said he has no intention of seeking a second term, insisting that four years is sufficient to begin addressing Nigeria's major challenges if the government is disciplined and committed to delivering results. He said his priority would be to stabilise the economy, improve security, strengthen institutions and restore public confidence in government.

"Four Years and Not a Day More"

Obi declared that he would honour a single-term commitment if entrusted with the presidency.

According to him, effective leadership is measured by the quality of decisions and reforms implemented, not by the number of years spent in office. He argued that with clear priorities and political will, meaningful progress can be achieved within one constitutional term.

The former Anambra State governor said his administration would concentrate on economic reforms, investment in education, healthcare, job creation and support for local production.

He also stressed the need to tackle insecurity, improve the ease of doing business and ensure prudent management of public resources, saying these areas would receive immediate attention under his leadership.
