Adeleke Wins His Polling Unit as Osun Election Results Begin to Emerge

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has won his polling unit in the ongoing Osun governorship election, recording a significant margin over his closest challenger at the location.

Adeleke polled 218 votes at Unit 009, Ward 002, Sagba Abogunde in Ede North Local Government Area, according to results shared from the polling unit. The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, recorded 23 votes.

The result comes after Adeleke arrived at the polling unit earlier in the day to cast his ballot. Reports identified the location as Unit 009, Sagba Abogunde Ward 2, in Ede North.

The governor is seeking another term in office under the Accord Party, while Oyebamiji is contesting on the APC platform. Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is also among the leading contenders in the election.

The result from Adeleke's polling unit is only one polling-unit outcome and does not indicate the eventual winner of the Osun governorship election. Results from other polling units across the state's 30 local government areas will be collated before the final result is declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The 2026 Osun election is being closely watched as one of Nigeria's major electoral contests ahead of the 2027 general elections. More than 2.3 million registered voters are eligible to participate across 3,763 polling units in the state.

As counting continues, attention will now shift to results from other key polling units and wards across Osun as parties and their agents monitor the collation process.
